Podcasts

Bill Simmons has a radio podcast called The BS Report. He talks sports, mostly basketball. He's very east coast biased, but can be interesting sometimes.

NPR Podcasts are many and they have many different topics and shows.

MPR has many different podcasts.

Native America Calling is a show about Native issues and discussion from Native people.

CBS Sports Podacasts are mostly about fantasy sports.

Free Native American Books Online

Those that know me know I've taught Native American Studies for 8 years at Rainy River Community College and for the last couple of years, at the elementary school.

Lately, I've been wondering how many Native books were online.  So I started doing a search and came across some books of interest.  I didn't read all of these so please keep that in mind.

I'll list them here.

Indian Heroes and Great Chieftains
by Ohiyesa (Charles Eastman)

Old Indian Days
by Ohiyesa (Charles Eastman)

Old Indian Legends
by Zitkala-Sa (Gertrude Simmons Bonnin)

Firewater and Forked Tongues
by Flying Hawk and M.I. Mcreight

Indian Life and Indian History
by Kah-ge-ga-gah-bowh (George Copway)

The Life, History, and Travels of Kah-ge-ga-gah-bowh
by Kah-ge-ga-gah-bowh (George Copway)

The Traditional History and Characteristic Sketches of the Ojibway Nation
by Kah-ge-ga-gah-bowh (George Copway)

Autobiography of Black Hawk
by Black Hawk

If you are interested in Native culture, these are all free online books written by Native authors about their own people.

Changes Changes

Ok ok, posting everyday didn't work out to great. I'm way too busy with 5 kids and teaching.

LOL

:)

So I am making some changes to this blog.

I am still going to be posting good sites to go to on the internet, but I won't be doing it everyday and hopefully the posts will be better because of it. Also, the blog will NOT end after 1 year.

I'll keep it going....

Project Exploring the Internet: Day 123

In case any of you decided to order chickens like I am going to soon, I found this site about Raising Chickens.

An example....

Why Raise Chickens?
Here are a few of the most frequently expressed reasons people raise chickens:

Easy and inexpensive to maintain (when compared to most other pets)
Eggs that are fresh, great-tasting & nutritious
Chemical-free bug and weed control
Manufacture the worlds best fertilizer
Fun & friendly pets with personality (yes, you read that right)

Project Exploring the Internet: Day 122

Almost time to order baby chicks....

By the time they get here and grow a bit it will be about that time. I want to order them early this year.

A good site to order from is McMurray Hatchery. Click on that link and it will take you to the Sultans page. I'm thinking of ordering those and breeding them with Cochins and Light Brahmas to make a bird that can really handle the Minnesota winters well.

Project Exploring the Internet: Day 121

Just wanted to show My Son's Basketball Clip as an example of what you can do on YouTube and also just show you a great basketball game. Of course that could be just dad talking.

He's #21 in maroon with the headband and long socks.

Project Exploring the Internet: Day 116

Audacity is a tool you can use to record audio on your computer.

So I am used it to put play-by-play action on my son's basketball game that I recorded.

I'm not the greatest basketball game announcer but the Audacity tool worked GREAT!

The example: Giizhik's Basketball Game
